What’s The Link Between Christians And UFOs?

No, this isn’t a bad joke about all Christians being extraterrestrial lifeforms or the Bible having been written by aliens. Although the team here at ChristianCupid.com have heard a few of these in our time.
We’ll start by addressing the following figures from a new study:
- Fact #1: Most adults in Western countries believe that humans are not alone in the universe and that intelligent life exists on other planets
- Fact #2: A third believe that intelligent aliens from space have visited earth
- Fact #3: One in 12 have seen a mysterious object in the sky that might have been a visitor from another world
- Fact #4: Nearly one in every five adults personally knows someone who claims to have seen a UFO
With the general acceptance by the public of the existence of UFOs, it’s often difficult for Christians to know what to believe. After all, the Bible doesn’t say anything about UFOs – or does it?
- Fact #5: Born-again evangelical Protestants are much less likely to have seen a UFO or to believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence
That’s right. If you’re an older male who resides in the country, chances are that you’ve seen a UFO – unless you happen to be a Christian.
But how can we explain this? Do UFOs fly around until they identify someone who isn’t an evangelical before revealing themselves? Not likely.
If a man or a woman is a genuine Christian, then he or she will take the Bible at its word. God created the world out of nothing – no problem. God made man in His image – all good. There is a spiritual world beyond the physical one in which we live – yup, got that.
The Christian will not seek out supernatural phenomena such as aliens or ghosts, because he or she knows that anything that is not of God is of the devil. Most Christians who have studied the Bible in depth, especially the passages that refer to demons and Satan worship, will not deny that it’s likely that UFOs do exist. But the discerning Christian will recognise them for what they are – manifestations of the devil and his followers in an attempt to draw people away from God. This is an extremely effective technique, as many people have stated words to this effect: ‘Nowhere in the Bible does it mention UFOs, but I saw one last week. Therefore God can’t be real.’
Christians may not see UFOs or other paranormal activity, simply because they are not actively looking for them. Those who genuinely understand the power and evil of the devil will deny him any foothold in their lives.
So what’s the link between Christians and UFOs?
Christians who know their Bible back to front recognise that UFOs and other supernatural phenomena are not of God, therefore they do not seek them out.
